About Halika Teej
Hartalika Teej is a monsoon celebration which is enjoyed with much intensity and excitement by women over north India, particularly Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana. This Teej is worshipped to pay tribute to Goddess Parvati. On this day, many believers observe fasts and appeal to God for a happy and prosperous life. After a daylong vrat, ladies break their quick by eating satvik food like ghewar, rabdi, coconut water, jaggery, rice, dal, curries and so forth. They also dress in splendid, excellent garments and adornments like bangles, jhumkas and bindis. They sit together and apply cunning henna structures on one another’s hands and sing society songs. In certain pieces of Rajasthan, they likewise accumulate in greenery enclosures, move and play on swings.
Story of Harltalika Teej
Goddess Parvati kept away from any kind of food and water and prayed to God for quite a long time to get Lord Shiva as her partner. All wedded and unmarried ladies around the whole nation keep the ceremonial fasts, much the same as Goddess Parvati, for a happy wedded life.
Women offer bel Patra, organic products, flowers and rice covered in turmeric to Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva as a feature of the uncommon pooja on Teej. After this, ladies read the vrat katha and start their fast. They cease from eating non-vegetarian food, substantial and other food. Many women devotees use a light eating routine, and eat only organic food, as the day progress towards evening, while some take ‘nirjala’ vrat, where they cease from devouring even a drop of water. Women devotees who are pregnant or are ill, are not encouraged to observe this fast.
