Masik Shivratri

Shivratri is a way to connect to Lord Shiva. Deities of Lord Shiva follow Shivratri very closely. Masik Shivratri is observed once every month. It is considered to be a very powerful day. It falls on every Chaturdashi tithi of Krishna Paksha.

Why Masik Shivratri Should be Celebrated by Women?

Masik Shivratri is an important day observed by married and unmarried ladies. They observe fast on this day for better life of their husband and son. Unmarried girls fast for a better match and a loving better half.

Puja Vidhi:

A three level surface is used to pray. The topmost level represents heaven, the middle level represent space or universe while the lowermost represents the earth where all the life form exists. The heaven represents the forms or roops of Lord Shiva.

Rituals on this day:

The devotees of Masik Shivratri celebrate by taking a holy bath with hot water with Til while observing fast is another ritual followed by people on this day. Aarti, hymns are being sung on this day to please lord Shiva.

Celebrations in India

It is celebrated all over the India. It is celebrated in states of Andhra Pradesh where followers of Lord Shiva visit Bhramarambha temple. While states of Himachal, Jammu and Assam in spite of being diverse in culture and tradition, celebrate Masik Shivratri every month.

It is believed that the pleasing lord Shiva with puja archana brings happiness, prosperity and grace in life.
