Durga is said to be all the Hindu goddesses in one, which is why she is the epitome of energy and wrath. History It is said that Durga was created during the beginning of time to enforce peace. There were many demons at that time that terrorized earth, one of them was Mahishasura. Mahishasura banished the gods from heaven who went pleading to Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. All of them then together created a divine power that had the weapons of the trine. Durga alone challenged all the demons in the battlefield and defeated them one by one. There was an epic battle that took place between Durga and Mahishasura, in the end Durga beheaded Mahishasura with her trident and restored peace on earth. Celebration There are many devotees of Durga all over India, who on this day worship her and observe a day long fast in order to get the blessings of Durga.
