Lord Ganesha is considered to be the wisdom and knowledge. He is also known as Vinayaka, Vighn Vinashaka. The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated to honor Lord Ganesha. The festival is celebrated on the fourth day of waxing moon also known as Shukla Chaturthi.

The festival lasts for 10 days and during the 10 days, the idols of Lord Ganesh are being worshipped. The idols of lord Ganesha is being worshipped for 10 days and is being immersed in sea of lake on the 10th day, wishing ask Ganesha to visit us every year.

The festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Maharashtra and southern India.

The right Vidhi of Ganesh Chaturthi Puja involves the following steps:

1. Avahana

The Lord Ganesha is being invoked to visit us and shower his blessings. This step is to be followed by those who don't have idol of Lord Ganesha in their homes. If you have an idol of lord Ganesha and is being worshipped regularly then skip Avahana and Pratishthapan.

2. Pratishthapan

Install a statue of Lord Ganesha in your home for 10 days. You can use a small idol of lord Ganesha or a clay statue. But make sure whatever you do for Ganesha, you do with love and full bhakti.

3. Aasan Samarpan

The idol of Lord Ganesha is made fixed or provided an aasan for these 10 days. Do not relocate the idol of Lord Ganesha for these 10 days.

4. Ardhaya Samarpan

Offer holy water to Lord Ganesha idol. Make sure that idol is not akhandit or broken throughout the rituals.

5. Idol Bathing

The idol of Lord Ganesha is made to bath. You can use milk, ghee, honey and rice for this purpose.

6. Clothes

Offer clothes to the idol of Lord Ganesha. Fragranced sticks, dhoop batti should also be added.

7. Ganesh Arti

The end of the Puja is marked by Ganesh Arti. Chant the arti with full heart and devotion.
